Helping You When You Need It Most

Protecting Your Rights – And Your Future

When you have been pulled over by the police or when a detective tells you he has a few questions for you, your first inclination may be to tell them everything they want to know. It is easy to feel intimidated by a person with a uniform, with a badge, and a gun.

Often, though, the things that you say, or do not say, to the arresting officer and to others can mean the difference between conviction and acquittal. When you are stopped, you do not have to say anything, and you usually should not say anything. If you have made statements, however, an experienced lawyer can help protect your constitutional rights.

At The Law Office of Susan E. Allen, Attorney at Law, PLLC, I aggressively defend individuals throughout the Richmond area who have been charged with a crime. I also protect the rights of out-of-state visitors traveling on the roadways in Virginia. Contact my office or call me at 804-593-4768 to set up a meeting to discuss your criminal defense needs.

Traffic Offenses

It can happen in an instant and it can happen to anyone. You are driving down the highway, following the flow of traffic, and the police officer’s radar or laser gun falls on you. It is a helpless feeling because it is your word against the police officer’s and the officer has the radar gun or the laser gun. Even worse, if it is a reckless driving citation, a conviction will leave you with a criminal record because reckless driving in Virginia is a Class 1 Misdemeanor. It may seem impossible to challenge the ticket.

I handle traffic tickets, including speeding and reckless driving and DUI/DWI. If you are an out-of-state driver, I may be able to make your appearances for you, so that you will not need to return to Virginia.

Other Criminal Defense Matters

I also defend men and women on criminal charges involving:

Expungements

I can help you explore the option of obtaining an expungement to clear or seal their criminal records of a charge that never resulted in a conviction.

To set up a private meeting to discuss your criminal defense, email me or call me at 804-593-4768. My office is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., and evenings and weekends by appointment. Credit cards accepted.
